Discover Ballard

Explore the Ballard neighborhood with Krueger Team Seattle

Ballard was originally a rowdy Scandinavian maritime village and railroad town. At one time it was the largest city in King County.  Today Ballard is one of the most trendy and popular neighborhoods in Seattle. Although the neighborhood has changed quite a bit, Ballard’s Scandinavian character can still be seen and felt.  The neighborhood is located in the Northwest corner of the city between two bodies of water. Shilshole Bay to the west and Salmon Bay to the south. Ballard is an ideal location to call home and if you are considering a move to the neighborhood you won’t be disappointed!

Ballard is a cosmopolitan mix of growing families, young professionals, students and life long residents. If you enjoy an urban lifestyle, there is so much to be found right here, including lively music venues and a vibrant foodie scene. As a visitor you can spend an entire day in Ballard visiting attractions like the Ballard Locks, Fisherman’s Terminal, the Nordic Museum and taking long beautiful walks through the neighborhoods’ hilly commercial and residential streets.  King County’s picturesque 27 mile recreational Burke Gilman trail weaves its way through Ballard and offers hours of sightseeing and recreation fun.

Every Sunday the ‘Old Ballard’ neighborhood hosts one of the most popular and largest farmers markets in Seattle. The Ballard Farmer’s Market is a well known event that lines the streets of the neighborhood’s Old Ballard district. The market is a popular spot to buy fresh locally grown fruits, vegetables and flowers. It’s a perfect Sunday destination to meet up neighbors, host visitors and shop locally.

Although home prices and the cost of living in Ballard are higher than the national average there is a lot of value to found in this dynamic Seattle neighborhood, including good public schools. Just north of downtown Seattle and neighboring other popular and walkable neighborhoods like Greenwood and Fremont, Ballard is well situated with easy access to other parts of town.

Ballard is a very welcoming community, with a great location, to consider purchasing a new home. Residents can count on multiple transportation options, solid educational facilities, and lots of local shopping and dining opportunities. When you live in Ballard, there is never a need to go far as residents can easily stay close to home to experience cultural entertainment, recreation, local character, and many festivities.
